RE: Sad Day...

I am sorry to say that this will NOT make you feel better BUT, I camp ALL year as I live in South Florida! We hope to move to middle Georgia soon where we have some property, but I still think we'll be able to camp year round; we'll just have to go south........ Sorry...... Jo We live in Middle Georgia and we camp all year long. We have never winterized. If it get's too cold we just put a heater in it so nothing will freeze. We do head to FL for Christmas & New Years and head north for the 4th of July. The rest of the time we usually just enjoy GA all year round.

RE: Your Rig

Michelle & Dwight, WOW!!!!!!!!!! That is all I can say!Thats a nice new rig!!! Hope you enjoy it as much as you did your Open Road. Pam Thanks Pam, we will be taking it to one of your favorite campgrounds for Labor Day "AH Stephens" and we are looking forward to it. We didn't switch away from Open Road easily, but they just didn't offer the floorplan that we wanted and Jim Brown had nothing in stock and it would have been very hard for us to order and not knowing if or when they will be able to fill an order. Hope to see you around a campground sooner or later :-) Michelle

RE: Post your tow vehicle pics here

I'm just curious what is your overall length all hooked up and ready to go? When were hooked up and the bicycle rack is on the rear (adds about 3') were right at 68', or 65' with out the rack and HDT and RV only. Walt. WOW ... I need to measure ours the next time we are hooked up, but I'm sure we are not that long. Truck is 22 ' and Camper is 39'

RE: Post your tow vehicle pics here

This is a pic of our TV, we tow a 2005 Alfa 5ver with a gross of about 18000lbs. There's a link to our webshots page of our rig and RV... We've added a power lift for the Suzuki that we have on the back since these pics were taken and will get the pic of that change soon. We towed for years with our 97 Ford (we still own it and love it) PS F350drw crew cab, 5spd/gear vendor, Banks with intercooler, air ride rear suspension, Trail Saver air ride hitch, Banks exhaust brake and more. We were at or beyond the trucks real life ability to tow safely and decided to go to a bigger unit, researched MDT and HDT and for the $ and safety we chose the HDT and will NEVER go back to a pick up or MDT to tow. Happy Travels. I'm just curious what is your overall length all hooked up and ready to go?

RE: King Pin Box (bird nest)

What do you all do to cover up the openings in the pin box to stop the birds from building nests? Thanks We have the same problem, birds building nests in the hitch, the king pin box and go up in the gap between camper and king pin and build a nest in there. I finally took a big black garbage bag and taped it all around my king-pin and the gaps in the camper. That seems to have helped haven't seen or heard any birds since then. Michelle

RE: Post your tow vehicle pics here

Finally got a real tow vehicle. 2008 F250 6.4L PSD CC SB I love the look of the 2008 Ford Super Duty's. They got a tough look to them. :B

RE: Thinking about Camping full time?? anybody else??

My kids are 18, 17, 12, 10, 6, 11mo. Only the last 4-5 would be coming w us. Our 17 year old is still deciding on whether he wants to come w us for a year and then off to college or straight to college. I'm not trying to sway him as this should be his decision but I really want him to come w us very much. My question would be what kind of a Tow-Vehicle are you planning on getting to tow that 5th-wheel with? To make sure each kid has a secure seat. :h

RE: Spring Rally for GA'RVers, Vet Memorial State Park, May 9,10

We will be dry camping in the Oconee National Forest the weekend of April 26th. If anyone wants to join us contact me. We are planning on spending Sat. on the river (bring your own raft, canoe or kayak) and spending Sunday hiking some of the trails close by the campground. Edit to add there is room for RVs and TTs where we are camping. I didn't know that they were places to camp with RV's in the Oconee National Forest .. what part of it are you going to? We have a national Forest near us on HWY 83 north but the road to get in there is very tight and I don't think we would attemt to go there. Michelle

RE: Emerald Coast RV Beach Resort, *here right now*

Looks like a great place. The only problem for us is they don't allow German Shepherds.:( What do you mean they don't allow German Shepherds. Do they not allow dogs or just don't allow certain breads of dogs. We have a German Shepherd and she travels everywhere with us and it would be nice to know. I have never heard of a campground that doesn't allow German Shepherds. Thanks for any info It's on their website. They allow dogs but they are breed restricted. Our gentle calm German Shepherd travels everywhere with us also. That might just be one more reason why I prefer State Parks to RV Resorts, there seem to be less rules and discrimination at State Parks.

RE: Spring Rally for GA'RVers, Vet Memorial State Park, May 9,10

Sorry to hear that you have to work while the rest of your family is camping. We will be doing the same thing next week. The kids and I will be at Indian Springs and my husband will be going to work every day. I don't think we are considered South Georgia, but close enough about 25 miles north of Macon. Michelle

That looks beautiful. Wish we were in FL right now since GA has been pretty cold for the last 2 days. While you are down there make sure you check out Andrews State Park it is very beautiful and you might even want to take a drive to Destin FL especially if you want to do some shopping. While in Destin take a look at Henderson Beach State Park and Top Sail State Park Resort. Michelle

RE: Bye, Bye FlyingJ discount

The only advantage that is still worth it to use the card when you are filling up is that you will receive the cash-price even if paying with a Credit Card, that usually amounts to 5 or more cents per gallon. We like the pumps on each side when filling up on the truck side due to the fact that we have 2 50 gl tanks on our TV and it is impossible to get them both full at a one-sided pump.

RE: Satellite's

We just purchased a regular dish on Ebay ($ 25) for DirecTV and built a tri-pod ($ 15)for it and it works great. We bring our box from the bedroom which is not HD and have not had any problems yet. Used to have one of the small ones that they sell at RV places, but it was always hard to get a signal with it. Michelle
